6 things we know so far about Tremors 6

6 things we know so far about Tremors 6

With principal photography on Tremors 6 now completed, details have started to emerge about what we can expect to see in the new film that’s currently due to premiere early in 2018.

From locations to monsters, old favourites to new faces, there’s a lot out there if you know where to look.

Just be aware that some of the following information could be considered spoilers, so look away now if you don’t want to know more…

1. Burt and Travis are heading for Canada…with Ass Blasters

While full plot details are quite rightly thin on the ground, Universal have released some information on the next outing for Burt Gummer and his offspring, Travis Welker.

According to the studio’s VP Glenn Ross, this is going to be “the craziest, most over-the-top movie in the Tremors saga to date.” Here’s the synopsis:

“Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) and his son Travis Welker (Jamie Kennedy) find themselves up to their ears in Graboids and Ass-Blasters when they head to Canada to investigate a series of deadly giant-worm attacks. Arriving at a remote research facility in the artic tundra, Burt begins to suspect that Graboids are secretly being weaponised, but before he can prove his theory, he is sidelined by Graboid venom. With just 48 hours to live, the only hope is to create an antidote from fresh venom — but to do that, someone will have to figure out how to milk a Graboid!”

“Milk a Graboid”? I have no words…

2. Walter Chang’s Market is back

Yes, 14 years since we last saw Chang’s Market in Tremors: The Series, Tremors 6 director Don Michael Paul recently posted the above photo on Instagram, proof that at least some of the film takes place in the town of Perfection. It remains to be seen whether Jodi is still running the store.

3. The old school Graboids (and effects) are returning

Michael Gross recently posted some video from the South Africa shoot on his Facebook page (which is a must-follow for Tremors fans), revealing some of the work that goes into laying the groundwork for a Graboid to be pulled through the dirt. This suggests that some old-school practical creatures could be seen this time around rather than CG.

Gross also noted in the comments that the Graboids will be closer to the “classic” looking creatures seen in earlier films than those in Tremors 5: Bloodlines.

4. Val McKee’s daughter will be appearing

OK, so this one isn’t 100% confirmed, but the IMDb cast list shows that actress Jamie-Lee Money will be playing “Valerie McKee” in Tremors 6 – when copied into a tweet mentioning this, Money retweeted it, suggesting there’s some grain of truth in the rumour.

5. Jamie Kennedy will get eaten by a Graboid

Remember when Burt Gummer got himself trapped in the belly of a Graboid in Tremors 3: Back to Perfection? Like father, like son, as Jamie Kennedy’s Travis Welker has been spotted inside one of the creatures in photos from the set. That could be punishment for all those terrible nicknames he used for Burt in T5 – “Gummy Bear”?

6. Tanya van Graan is the film’s female lead

South African actress Tanya van Graan will star as Dr Rita Sims alongside Michael Gross and Jamie Kennedy – van Graan currently has five films in post-production according to IMDb, and a quick YouTube search shows that she’s starred in numerous adverts over the years and been named one of South Africa’s most beautiful women. But does she know how to fight Graboids?

Tremors 6 will shoot in South Africa

Returning director Don Michael Paul hinted at it in a series of Instagram posts, now Tremors star Michael Gross has confirmed it: the franchise is returning to South Africa for Tremors 6.

Gross revealed in September 2016 that Tremors 6 was going into production, with Don Michael Paul posting photos from a location scout at Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve in November.

Black Friday Seeking Perfection offer

Although it goes against everything the late, great, Walter Chang stood for, it’s impossible to deny the fact that Black Friday offers people the chance to save money on the things they enjoy.

So, assuming you’ve either enjoyed Seeking Perfection: The Unofficial Guide to Tremors and want to buy a copy for friends or family for Christmas, or you’ve yet to pick up your own copy, I’ve dropped the price on Amazon for Black Friday weekend.

The paperback is just £9.99 in the UK or $12.99 in the US ($17.46 in Canada) for the weekend, before it goes back up a few pounds/dollars.

The Kindle editions are also much cheaper, though if you do buy the US paperback then you can get the Kindle book free via Matchbook.

So head over to .

Oh, and if you’ve already bought the book and enjoyed it, I’d really appreciate it if you could take a few moments to leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads.

Amazon’s Tremors series is ‘a Donald Trump story’ reveals writer

Amazon’s Tremors series is ‘a Donald Trump story’ reveals writer

The writer of Amazon’s upcoming Tremors mini-series has revealed that Kevin Bacon will star as “a horrible loser” and that the town of Perfection is “coming face to face with failure”.

Things have been pretty quiet on the Tremors front of late, with news of the rival TV and direct-to-video sequels relegated to occasional social media posts or regurgitated news items on entertainment blogs.

This changed earlier this week during the 300th edition of The Writers Panel podcast, which featured interviews with a number of Hollywood screenwriters.

One of those on the panel was Andrew Miller, who is penning the 10-episode Tremors series for Amazon. When asked to talk about the show by host Ben Blacker, Miller revealed that the series is “about failure.” More

Michael Gross reveals Tremors 6 is happening

“IT IS HAPPENING!” So screamed the announcement on Michael Gross’ Facebook page last night as he revealed that Tremors 6 has been given the greenlight from Universal Studios Entertainment.

He went on to confirm that his Tremors 5 co-star, Jamie Kennedy, would be back for more monster hunting, along with director Don Michael Paul.

Nothing else is known about the latest entry in the Tremors saga, though it’s likely the film won’t see the return of original creators, SS Wilson and Brent Maddock, who declined to be part of the rebooted franchise back in 2014 when they discovered they wouldn’t have any creative control over the project – read their full statement. Win a copy of Charlotte Stewart’s new autobiography

Win a copy of Charlotte Stewart’s new autobiography

It was back in early 2013 that I interviewed actress Charlotte Stewart for Seeking Perfection: The Unofficial Guide to Tremors – she told me her thoughts on filming Tremors and returning for Tremors 3 and I thought I’d uncovered most of her best stories.

As I discovered in her new autobiography, there was a lot more going on behind the scenes that few people knew about.

charlottebookcoverIn Little House in the Hollywood Hills: A Bad Girl’s Guide to Becoming Miss Beadle, Mary X and Me, Charlotte takes readers back to her formative years, introducing us to her family and the events leading up to her introduction to the world of acting.

Charlotte’s early career found her working under the direction of David Lynch for his 1977 film, Eraserhead, though it took a number of years to reach the big screen, during which time took on numerous bit parts in shows such as Mannix and The Waltons before winning the role of Miss Beadle in the hit TV drama, Little House on the Prairie.

So far, so Hollywood success story.

But where the book gets really interesting is Charlotte’s revelations about her life between the casting calls, including the romantic encounters with various leading men, the joy of living in Los Angeles during the time of free love and the resulting dramas that were darker than anything in the TV series she starred in. Kevin Bacon reveals plans for Tremors mini-series

Kevin Bacon reveals plans for Tremors mini-series

Kevin Bacon has been taking part in a promotional Twitter Q&A for his latest film, The Darkness, during which he revealed more on the Tremors TV series he first discussed last year.

In 2015 he explained he was teaming up with Blumhouse Productions on a TV reboot, to be written by Andrew Miller.

When asked on Twitter whether he’d be keen to make another Tremors, Bacon explained:

“I would love to make another Tremors. In fact we’re working on a 10-episode mini-series right now.”

Bacon also responded to a question about whether a Tremors series should feature him teaching Graboids to dance…

Bacon discussed his desire to return to the character of Valentine McKee in Seeking Perfection: The Unofficial Guide to Tremors:

“This guy is one of the few characters I’ve played that I’d be interested in seeing where he is 25 years later. Who does that guy grow into? There’s a lot of possibilities about what could have happened in his life in 25 years – for me it always comes back to the character and that would be fun to explore.”

Interview: Dustin McNeill on Phantasm Exhumed

Interview: Dustin McNeill on Phantasm Exhumed

Long before I wrote Seeking Perfection: The Unofficial Guide to Tremors, I was a fan of behind the scenes books on my favourite films and TV shows.

While planning my book I wanted to see what else was currently on the market, and one of the titles I read was Dustin McNeill’s excellent Phantasm Exhumed. A history of the film franchise, the book goes deep into the making of the movies and is a must-read for any fan.

As I was interested in finding out more about the book, I sent a few questions to Dustin and he kindly took the time to respond.

For anyone who enjoyed Seeking Perfection, I recommend taking a look at Dustin’s book and having a look around the online Phantasm community.

Tremors Guide: Can you tell me a little about your background – how long have you been writing professionally?

Dustin MacNeill: For two years in high school, I maintained a column in a local newspaper. In college, I wrote for a respectable DVD review website. Almost two years ago, I published my first book. I wouldn’t say I’m a professional writer, but I do enjoy it very much as a hobby.

My degree in film studies hasn’t practically served me anywhere else, but has certainly come in handy when I take on these kinds of writing projects. More

TremorsCast 7: Kevin Bacon interview

It’s been a long time coming, but episode seven of the TremorsCast finally exists and includes some of my exclusive interview with Kevin Bacon for Seeking Perfection: The Unofficial Guide to Tremors.

This episode is due to arrive in iTunes on the 19th of January 2016, 26 years to the day since Tremors was released into US cinemas. My plan is to release at least one new episode of the podcast each month in 2016, bringing you news from around the Tremors universe and audio from some of the 50 plus interviews I carried out for the book.

It looks like 2016 is going to be a busy one for Tremors fans, with the recent news that Kevin Bacon plans to bring Tremors back to the small screen along with Blumhouse Productions. I’ve also heard rumblings that Universal are interested in a Tremors 6.

2016 also marks the 20th anniversary of Tremors 2’s release on home video, and I’ll be covering that and more throughout the year.

Kevin told me about his initial feelings about the role of Val McKee:

“There was something fun about that character and the relationship between those two guys, grown men who were kind of losers. When you have two losers who are put into the situation of having to rise to a level of heroism, I think it can be kind of fun. So I was really taking a flyer on it, but I can’t say I was feeling, ‘Oh wow, this is the one.’”
