The long-gestating small-screen Tremors reboot took another step forward this week, with the announcement that Vincenzo Natali has come aboard as director of the pilot.

Natali, best known for his feature films Cube and Splice and work on high-profile TV series including Westworld and American Gods, is a friend of the TV show’s writer, Andrew Miller.

According to Deadline:

In the Tremors follow-up, written by Andrew Miller, the killer Graboid worms that nearly destroyed Perfection, NV, 25 years ago are back, and the town’s only hope for survival is Valentine McKee (Bacon), who beat them once. But to do it again he’ll have to overcome age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex.

Miller will also serve as showrunner on the SyFy series alongside executive producers Kevin Bacon, David Schiff and Jessica Rhoades.

You can hear Bacon explain to me why he’s interested in a reboot in this interview I carried out with him for Seeking Perfection: The Unofficial Guide to Tremors.

Readers of Seeking Perfection may have spotted Bacon holding a copy of the book in the above photo – I had a chance to meet him during his recent visit to Edinburgh and he told me he was trying hard to get the series on air.
